Hi!  My name is Kristy Sandin Placido.  I married my husband, Brad, in 1997.  We have two sons, Justin and Joel.  Justin was born May 2, 2001 and Joel joined us on July 28, 2004.  We also have a black cat named Deuce.  We live in Fowlerville, MI.  I am a Spanish teacher at Fowlerville High School (I'm also a 1992 graduate!).  Brad is the owner of Telcom Wiring Services in Howell, MI.

I also enjoy traveling.  In 1995 I went to Mexico and spent the summer living with a host family and attending classes through the University of Arizona.  The following summer I lived in Spain through a Michigan State University study abroad program.  I really enjoyed both of these experiences!  In the summer of 1999, while teaching at East Lansing High School, I accompanied 6 students to Costa Rica.  I hope to visit many more countries in the future!

I attended Michigan State University from 1992-1996, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish with high honors.  I was an Honors College Graduate as well.  In 1997 I completed my teaching internship.  In 2000 I completed a Masters in Curriculum and Teaching, with high honors, also from MSU.  Currently, I am studying Library Media and Educational Technology at Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids, MI.

Professionally, I enjoy sharing ideas with other teachers, especially those who are also using TPR Storytelling.  This is a great way to learn foreign languages according to my students!  In 2002 I began working for TPRS Publishing, Inc.  They employ me to present workshops on TPR Storytelling to language teachers around the United States.  (I've presented in Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, New York, New Jersey, and  Massachusetts.)   I have also co-authored advanced-level curricula for TPRS Publishing, Inc.  I also enjoy providing technology training in my own school district.
